Est. in 1913 and Inc. in 1924, the “Walker Bucket Brigade”, now more commonly known today as the Walker Fire Department, is a small department with a huge heart. WFD is located on Walker Lake Ontario rd. (route 260, just north of 18). The WFD is a hundred percent volunteer operated. It’s 30-35 active members are forged by the best community members that live within its coverage area. The men and women of the WFD, have hundreds of man hours of Fire, EMS, and special operations training, and continue that training throughout the year, to bring you the best, most professional care possible in your time of need.

The WFD responds to an average of 300 emergency and non-emergency calls per year. The fire station houses 4 pieces of apparatus which include a Pumper/Rescue, an Engine, a Squad, and an Off-Road Vehicle (a 6 wheeled UTV w/tracks used in rescues in wooded areas or open fields, during any weather conditions). Some of the brave men and women of this little department can be found hanging around the fire station on any given night, especially on Tuesday nights (training night).

The men and women of this station are always looking for more volunteers to join their ranks. Feel free to stop in or send a message, or better yet; stop on in and see what it’s all about for yourself.
